I am glad I woke to see your sun rise.
Flowers sent their scent
through my spring window screen.
I inhaled,
deeply, like a billow,
on my final day,
each breath strong:
Recalling I considered
this day
years ago
in my youth,
not afraid then,
not afraid now,
and I sang a song
from 1975,
“Someone saved my life tonight,

and I smiled
